The Stumbing Block

I am still thinking about the Ngangikari and what it may be like to inhabit their world. From our point of view it seems to be fitting to describe them as innocent. The word means ‘not-harming’ which suits their life-style exactly. The European invaders considered them as animals. About the same time on the basis of Darwins’s theory his followers considered all humans to be animals. ??

The massacre of the innocents told in the New Testament is an everlasting theme in history. And continues today. The babe, the young child, all who have need for special care of whatever age with no intention to harm are  the innocent.

Is our modern pride in understanding all nature and all its contents which includes the human being, not damaged and diminished by those we once called primitive who stay to defy our blindness and deafness to the spirit (the non-sense world).

Perhaps we have to recover a kind of innocence in order to awake to the universality of spirit. Our conscious life seems flooded with lies, distortions of events, hypocrisy, false promises and delusions and counter-claims of truth, of evidence, of the real or else despairing indifference.

So how can we find the necessary route into the future of which so little is known.
One route needs our thinking. What  we usually call thinking is just opinion which we have borrowed from somewhere. Lots of thoughts cross our mind triggered by a situation, a memory, a hope and other mental visitors without us having much say in the matter. They are. often just likes and dislikes. If you want examples listen to most politicians then listen to yourself.
Modern science has little to say about the nature of thinking. Is thinking just a brain process? If so, then it cannot be thinking. This contradiction seems obvious, so why is it ignored? Science is oriented to the understanding of the physical world where measurement and number are essential.  The most of human experience cannot be understood in these terms. Everyday experience of sympathy or justice or the quality of things are examples. Consequently science tends to ignore them. Yet they are at the centre of being human. Like thinking. When thinking is always glued together with my nation, my race colour, self-pride and self advantage then it goes numb. In the face of our future we can only stagger and guess what our fears or fphantasy whisper
The act of thinking maintains the uprightness of the human being.

I have delayed posting this blog for several weeks. Attempting to follow discussions and comments about the future leadership of the UK has created for me a kind of mental blockage which gets in the way of language being used to elucidate themes like the nature of spirit and the insight offered by the experience of our unacknowledged contemporaries who have retained a precious gift which is our interest to recover although out of a different awareness.
On December 12 the leadership of the UK will be decided. It is therefore possible that decisions concerning justice, extremes of the rich and the poor, the abuse of nature and its gifts, the health both outer and inner of all citizens will be in the hands of one with a long history of deliberate lying, twisting of facts for private advantage and concealment of plans to maintain the financial power and influence of his coterie. In such an atmosphere so much is devalued. Serious exchange of ideas and real experiences seem superfluous.
When it is over and the decision is made things will not be the same. How they will change is hard to predict. Will it prompt the search for a for a more just society?
