Time takes nothing away
(Nihil tollit tempus)

The world is sick in bed
no visitors
no flowers.

All died
no paternoster
no amen.

Darkness
seeped into eagles’ eyes
and wolves’

Fallen
trees mountains and cities
lovers and all
who knew joy and grief

A shrivelled earth
A cindered sun.

All will vanish, they say
craunched in a timeless
heat.

Nihil tollit tempus
Time takes nothing away

The sweetness of the apple
Each harvest the digging
the making the talk
all tastes and memories
and thoughts
stay

All stays in the unbounded universe
and the lion lies down with the lamb

Beyond the fire and the thunder
we touch expanding love
and wisely knowing
yea.

The Latin I found on the wall of a beautiful French cathedral and wondered what it meant. It is a contrast with a view widely promoted by scientists.
